Lexile Information
Is that book too easy, too hard, or just right? |
|
Just Like Goldilocks, You Want to Know if That Book is Just Right The word lexile comes from the medieval Latin word lexica which means dictionary. Therefore, a lexicographer is one who edits, compiles, or writes a dictionary. A lexile score is a measure that can help determine if that book is"just right" for you to read. Comprehension of text vocabulary and understanding complex sentences as one reads determines a lexile score. Lexile scores change as a student becomes more proficient at reading and comprehending text. Choosing books within a hundred points above and below the score are considered "just right" for the reader.
